RYLA Committee
The
RI RYLA Committee
provides support and guidance to Rotarians who are carrying out RYLA
programs in their districts. The committee also encourages RYLA training
at the zone and district levels to expand the scope and strengthen
the effectiveness of RYLA worldwide.

Mark
Healy
District Governor 2003-2004
District 5810-Texas
Mark Healy is a member of the Rotary Club of Dallas
Market Center in Dallas, Texas U.S.A., Rotary District 5810.
President of the Rotary Club of Pleasant Grove in 1994-1995.
Mark was an original member of District 5810's RYLA Committee,
and has been active in the progress of this program since
1990, serving as Camp Director from 1992.
Mark was a contributor to the book "Rotarians Make
a Difference", and has served on many district sub-committees.
Mark served as District 5810 Vocational Service Chair
from 1995-2002 and also served as an Assistant Governor
from 1999-2002.
Mark is the recipient of District 5810's "New Generations
Award" in 1999, and was District 5810's "Rotarian
of the Year in 2000", and was a Staff Member at the
first International RYLA in San Antonio, at the Rotary
International Convention in 2001 and continues to be very
active in both District 5810's RYLA as well as Chair of
the 2004-2005 International RYLA Committee at Rotary International.
He presented RYLA at many Zone Institutes, and inspires
districts to form RYLA Committees and start RYLA Programs.
He has been involved in three North American RYLA Workshops,
and believes that a progressive district is involved in
youth! A panelist for RYLA in Osaka, Japan at the 2004
International Convention.
Mark is a 2004 graduate of Rotary International Leadership
Institute of the Rotary Clubs of
El Paso / Cuidad Juarez, Mexico. And has been active in
forming a similar Leadership Institute in District 5810,
Dallas, Texas.
Mark is the International RYLA Committee Chair 2004-2005,
and will repeat this position in 2005-2006.
Mark and his wife Jennie are both Dallas natives, and
together have four sons; Lance (deceased), Clay, Reide,
and Vincent.....and an adopted daughter, Savanna.
Mark is a Lighting Consultant, and a memeber of the I.E.S.
(Illuminating Engineering Society), since 1985. Mark and
Jennie are Major Donors to the Rotary Foundation, and
continue to support the Foundation via the Paul Harris
Society.

Rotary International – District 5490
Don is a member of the Prescott Sunup Rotary Club.
He has maintained perfect attendance during his 35 years
of Rotary service. His activities include many facets
of Rotary with an emphasis on youth. Don graduated from
The University of Southern California in Telecommunications.
His professional experience has been in Cable Television
and Broadcasting. Currently he consults part-time in
Cable TV and Internet related projects.
A graduate of “The Rotary College of Knowledge”,
he has also served as a facilitator for PETS, been a
Youth Exchange host and advisor, served as Assistant
Governor and has chaired several district committees.
Don is co-founder of a middle school version of the
Rotary Interact program, which has been called “Rotary
Life Club”.
Don led a Group Study Exchange Team to the Philippines
in March 2000. This experience broadened his outlook
on life and gave him a new insight into Rotary. He serves
as the GSE Chair for 2004-05 and is coordinating 2 outbound
and 1 inbound teams to Brazil & Mexico.
During his nine-year involvement in RYLA, he served
as chair, treasurer and program chair. He was selected
as Assistant Program Director for the inaugural 2001
RYLA International Convention. President Glen Estees,
has honored Don by selecting him as Vice Chairman of
the Rotary International RYLA Committee for 2004-05.
Don is involved in planning and producing the Centennial
International RYLA event at the 2005 Rortary International
Convention
Don is married to Annette, a retired schoolteacher
who now enjoys volunteering her teaching skills. Their
son Brad is a lighting programmer and designer and living
in Austin, TX with his wife Margaret and their son Matthew,
age 6. Don enjoys traveling, scuba diving, railroading
and photography. Annette also enjoys traveling and spends
time gardening plus reading.
Both Don and Annette are very active in community affairs
including: Chamber of Commerce, Ambassadors, Sister
City and Big Brothers & Big Sisters. Recently, Annette
was President of the local branch of American Association
of University Women. She volunteers her teaching skills
at the Highlands Center for Nature. In the year 2001
the Chamber of Commerce honored Annette as the “Ambassador
of the Year”.
Don is a Centurion, a Benefactor to the Permanent Fund
of The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International and
a Paul Harris Fellow. Annette, Brad and Matthew are
Paul Harris Fellows.Margaret is a Paul Harris Sustaining
member.
Awards received by Don include: “The Rotary Foundation
District Service Award”, the “Tribute to
Rotarians” Award, “Governors Award for Meritorious
Service” and “Four Avenues of Service Citation
for Individual Rotarians.”

Theresa Papp has been involved in Rotary for
nine years and has offered support on the community level
in various Director positions, fundraising initiatives and
President of the Rotary Club of Swan River in 1998. On the
District level Theresa has offered three years as Assistant
District Governor. The International level has been served
by being on the organizing committee of the first ever RYLA
convention in San Antonio, TX followed by being a trainer
at the Brisbane, Australia RYLA international event. Theresa
has been invited to be part of the RYLA committee of 2004-2005
and has recently accepted the same position for 2005-2006.
Theresa Papp’s past training and experience brings
together 30 years of diversity. She has been an entrepreneur
since 1986 and enjoyed success in that arena by being nominated
as Entrepreneur of the Year in Manitoba 1995. Educational
training is in Career Development and Counseling, Social
Work, Group Training and Facilitating, Special Needs, ESL,
and Program/Curriculum Development. She is a Certified Trainer
in specialized personality assessments. Her creativity extends
into the field of photography where she is a Professional
Photographer and Salon Judge achieving National and International
recognition for images that have been displayed in such
places as Epcot Centre, Orlando, FL. She is a five-time
Kodak Gallery Award recipient.
Papp’s forte is in creatively providing boutique
workshops and training that is customized to meet the needs
of the client. Since 1998, Papp has taken a lead role in
youth leadership-training programs by designing programs
that meet the needs of the youth of today and focusing on
social/psychological development and learning styles. This
has gravitated into the adult learning and corporate world.
The goal is always to custom create an interactive “edu-tainment”
program to provide a superior learning experience for the
target audience. Through extensive research, leadership
programs have been developed for youth from ages 12 upward.
Further research has confirmed that cognitive skills are
developing and critical for youth in the 10 year-old range
and new programs are in the early stages of development.
Papp has presented to international audiences and facilitated
workshops and training programs in Canada, USA, Australia,
and Western Europe.

Newton Camargo Moraes, of Santos-S.Paulo/Brazil,
is married to Jurema, a teacher. They have 3 children and
7 grandsons. He graduated in Civil and Electric Engineering
and then worked for 36 years in the area of Generation and
Distribution of electric power, serving in several leadership
positions.He retired in 1995. Newton was a university teacher
for 5 years at UNIVAP - São José of the Campos-SP.
Newton has been In Rotary since 1969. He was
Governor of District 4600 in 1996-97.
He worked intensely for Rotary in the area of human development
with Fundação Rotária, Participation
in RYLA, included speaking at District Conferences, Zone
Institutes, Workshops, and Seminars in several cities and
regions in Brazil.
Moraes produced about 35 works in Power Point
for Rotary, on the most varied themes. " The professional
of the future ". Additionally he produced and published
an orientation video/DVD for UNIVAP's students and professionals.
Newton has presented at the Zone Institute in Lima -Peru
in 2004. was a district instructor for 2 years, participated
of the Council of Legislation of 2001 in Chicago, and was
Chairman of District Rotary Foundation in 2003-04 and 2004-05.

Rotary International
A native of Virginia, Ken has lived in Chapel Hill,
North Carolina for the past 20 years. His first contact
with Rotary was in 1978, when he was a GSE Team Member from
D7600 in Virginia to D1440 in Denmark. He will serve a two-year
term on the RI Board of Directors beginning in July 2004.
A member of the Rotary Club of Chapel Hill since 1983, Ken
has served Rotary as chairman of the RI Leadership Development
and Training Committee and the Multi-District PETS Committee,
District Governor, President’s Representative, Anaheim
Training Leader, Regional Rotary Foundation Coordinator,
Assistant Chief Sergeant at Arms for three International
Conventions, and member of two Councils on Legislation.
Ken is a recipient of the RI Service Above Self Award, and
The Rotary Foundation Citation for Meritorious Service and
Distinguished Service Award.
Ken has been involved in the leadership of the Carolinas’
Multi-district PETS since 1991, and for 10 years chaired
an 11 district Outbound Scholar Training Seminar. In 1999,
he was also involved in the founding of the Multi-district
PETS Alliance.
With more than 30 years of experience in all aspects of
non-profit management, Ken still continues his full time
employment as Executive Director of the North Carolina Association
of Insurance and Financial Advisors. He has been active
with the American Society of Association Executives and
served three terms on its national certification board.
He is a graduate of the University of Richmond and obtained
his M.Ed. from Virginia Commonwealth University.
Ken and his wife Winnie, a professional speaker and trainer,
are very involved in their local community, serving as board
members of many local organizations.
